As I predicted, Lance showed up in Trek Town, (Waterloo, Wisconsin) for a surprise visit and tour of the humongous Trek campus. About 600 employees were called outside for a surprise meeting - the surprise was Lance. He thanked them and praised them for their quality work on the bikes that have carried him to seven victories in the Tour de France. This is the second visit to the Trek digs for Lance, but Trek technology and testing mechanisms have changed lots in the past four years....

The annual Trek dealers convention is happening in Waterloo now, instead of later at Interbike in Las Vegas. John Burke, head honcho of Trek, decided to showcase the Trek digs, and Waterloo, WI this year, to inspire dealer loyalty...

On the loyalty theme, Lance said that he will be a lifetime Trek athlete - his contract with Trek runs through 2010. Trek’s loyalty to, and support of Lance is well-proven, but John Burke made a presentation of 1,000 shares of Trek Corporation stock for each of the seven Tour wins - Lance now owns 7,000 shares of Trek. Lance joked and said for that, he might consider going for another one... Just Joking!! Ha - Keep your eyes out for news headlines, now, that Lance is gonna go for eight - and laugh....

And, thanks for all your comments about yesterday’s posting - here and via email!

  • Well, it seems as if the great Lance has finally been tested positive for the EPO drug in 1999. While he claims that the method used was "faulty", the lab and the French newspaper insist on its validity (apparently Lance was unable to translate the French text correctly). The question is now which drugs he took from 2000 onwards and how he managed to hide them. Maybe some sophisticated hightech stuff, paid for by some US pharmaceutics lab? End of a great sportsman.

  • Sure, "mary"...
Does anybody really believe that Lance has some top-secret ingredient that nobody else in the world has - That nobody else in the world knows how to manufacture, from some secret lab formulated by alchemists locked up in the top floor of a castle in darkest Transylvania or in deep caves somewhere....
Does anybody really believe anything they read in L'Equipe?
If so, somebody has a bridge in Brooklyn to sell to you....

  • Sure, "anonymous"...
doping is a business just like any other business. Labs are incessantly creating new substances to stay ahead of the testing methods and to earn money. That is no transylvanian conspiracy, thats called "free market economy". Evidently, someone has to test those new products. I agree with you that this french newspaper is creepy, but I dont believe that winning the Tour seven consecutive times without doping is humanly possible. Lance accused his critics of "not believing in miracles". Well, I dont. And now it seems as if he didnt believe in miracles either, at least not in 1999. Freeze more piss, please.
